Adam Schreck is an Associate at Malecki Law in New York, New York. Adam joined Malecki Law at the start of 2023. Since joining the firm, Adam has helped play a central role in advocating claims on behalf of harmed investors in FINRA arbitration cases involving private placement cryptocurrency investments, private equity investments, minority shareholder freezeouts, Regulation Best Interest, breach of fiduciary duties, and elder financial exploitation, among other areas.
Outside of FINRA Arbitration, Adam has helped represent investor clients in New York State court actions involving Ponzi schemes, high-end art and jewelry investments, payment processing, and proceedings to stay or compel arbitration. Adam has also helped investors resolve disputes involving private real estate investments and fund transfer issues, through mediation, as well as through direct negotiations.
At Malecki Law, Adam has also represented financial professionals in employment and regulatory matters. Adam has helped numerous financial professionals expunge defamatory disclosures from FINRA’s Central Registration Depository. Further, Adam has helped financial sector employees negotiate satisfactory settlement agreements with former employers. Adam has also helped financial professionals defend against investigations brought by State and Federal regulators involving testing and continuing education issues, licensing issues, and misappropriation issues, among others, which have led to favorable outcomes for the financial professionals.
Adam was also integral in revamping the industry-facing side of Malecki Law’s website, which in part helped facilitate the development of the new corporate advising services Malecki Law provides to registered investment advisors and small broker-dealers. Adam has helped advise financial firms on recruiting, employee transitions, communications, and data privacy issues, as well as advice and counsel on restrictive covenants in employment agreements, such as non-solicitation and non-compete clauses.
Before joining Malecki Law, Adam received his Juris Doctor from New York Law School where he was on the Dean’s List and focused his studies on business and real estate law. While in law school, Adam participated in New York Law School’s Securities Arbitration Field Placement and spent six months interning with Malecki Law. During his time as an intern, Adam helped draft and review filings for various types of arbitration and mediation proceedings. Additionally, Adam researched contemporary securities law issues and contributed to the firm’s investor education blogs.
During law school, Adam also worked as an Estate Planning Summer Associate at McManus & Associates in New Providence, NJ. In that role, Adam worked on estate planning and wealth transfer issues for high-net-worth clients in New Jersey and New York, including researching contemporary wealth transfer issues, drafting estate planning documents, and participating in client document signings.
Prior to attending law school, Adam received his undergraduate degree in Finance and Real Estate from Villanova University’s School of Business. While at Villanova, Adam was a double major with a Business Law minor, as well as was a member of the university’s baseball team and served as vice-president of his Greek life organization.
While in college, Adam interned in the telecommunications and real estate industries, respectively. During his telecommunications internship, Adam primarily reviewed lease agreements, analyzed zoning codes, and conducted cell tower site visits. While interning in the commercial real estate industry, Adam’s primary responsibilities included researching and contacting firm clients, analyzing financial models to determine appropriateness for clients, as well as drafting lease abstracts and reviewing other leasing related documents.
Outside of work and school, Adam is an avid sports fan whose loyalties lie with the LA Rams, Villanova Wildcats, and NY Yankees. Adam is a Jersey boy at heart who enjoys spending time with his family and dog, Gilbert, in Morris County, NJ. In his free time, Adam likes to spend time with friends, cook new recipes, watch new movies and television shows, and research fantasy sports.
